Rosenort Agro's recently purchased mild steel scale hoppers need replacing due to corrosion, prompting the search for a more durable solution.

By the mid-1980s, the company works with a local bin manufacturer to build long-lasting stainless hoppers—many bins of which are still in use today, 40 years later—a testament to the value of investing in quality.

After a short life, the recently purchased mild steel blender bin suffers from corrosion and is removed.

Due to the corroded mild steel blender bin, Chuck and Rudy Brandt of Rosenort Agro construct their first stainless steel creation: a 6-compartment blender bin. The corrosion-free performance of stainless steel quickly proves its value—still in use today.

A mild steel liquid storage tank at Rosenort Agro fails, causing the loss of over 8,000 gallons of liquid fertilizer. This incident becomes the turning point that drives Chuck and Rudy to seek a stainless steel solution for liquid fertilizer storage.

The Agro team builds its first stainless steel liquid fertilizer tanks for in-house use, designed to solve the short lifespan and risk of failure with carbon steel tanks.

Seeing strong interest from local farmers and neighboring Agri-retailers, the Brandts officially establish Novid Inc.—a stylized combination of the latin words “new vision”—with the mission to deliver premium, corrosion-free storage solutions.

Novid delivers six 35-foot flat bottom stainless steel tanks to a local fertilizer and chemical Agri-retailer — marking the company’s first major external sale.

Novid exhibits at agricultural trade shows across the Prairies, with Chuck, Rudy, and the team, meeting farmers and dealers face-to-face, educating them on the long-term benefits of stainless steel.

Demand for stainless steel liquid fertilizer tanks was on the rise. To support this growth, Novid built its first dedicated home in the Rosenort Industrial Park. A 8,250 sq. ft. manufacturing facility was built in 2009, and a dedicated office building added in 2010.

Just two years after opening the first plant, Novid expanded the shop to 13,200 sq. ft. to meet increasing demand. The company’s product line and client base were both growing quickly, and in 2014, another expansion brought total production space up to 19,470 sq. ft.

Novid adds two new products to its lineup and experiments with some products:

• Stainless steel cone bottom chemical and process tanks to enter industrial markets
• Stainless steel hopper bottom bins for premium dry fertilizer storage, primarily used for agriculture
• Experimented with smooth wall and hybrid bins—no longer offered

The Brandt family sells majority ownership to Frank and Ryan Plett, ensuring the business remains locally owned and rooted in Rosenort.

The continued journey in growing and learning stemmed a few custom industrial tank projects. Some of these projects include the development and sales of brew tanks, food grade tanks, and insulated tanks.

Additional manufacturing space is added to support new products, including stainless steel vessel composters.

Construction begins on a new 10,000 sq. ft. office to support a growing workforce and improved collaboration.

Novid adds the first transport tank to their offerings, a 1,600 US GAL hot load tank.

Now a North American leader in stainless steel liquid and dry fertilizer storage, Novid’s workforce has quadrupled since 2015. The Novid Advantage—premium quality, trusted dealer partnerships, and customer-first service—remains the foundation of its success.
