Liquid Storage Tank Capacity & ROI Calculator
One of the most common questions we hear is, "Is the upfront cost of a stainless steel tank really worth it?" The answer lies in your buying power. Use this tool to compare off-season bulk pricing against in-season rates and discover exactly how quickly your new storage system will pay for itself.
Calculate fertilizer & chemical liquid tank capacity and ROI.
Liquid fertilizer is significantly heavier than water, making accurate weight calculations critical for safety. A tank designed only for water may structurally fail if filled with high-density fertilizer.
Use this calculator to determine the True Capacity and Total Weight of your specific commodity—whether you are storing standard UAN (28-0-0/32-0-0), industrial chemicals or other.
- Customize Density: Input the specific gravity (e.g., UAN = 1.28) to ensure your tank is engineered for the load.
- Calculate ROI: Compare bulk pricing against in-season delivery to see the payback period of owning on-site stainless steel storage.

⚠️ COMPATIBILITY NOTICE ⚠️
Review the product compatibility section in our warranty documentation to ensure your product is safe for stainless steel.
Stainless steel (304L SS or 316 SS) is not compatible with all chemicals. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that stored products are compatible with the tank materials. Water alone is compatible with stainless steel; however, additives or contaminants in water may not be. Customers are responsible for conducting proper testing to confirm compatibility. If the customer is unsure about compatibility, they should consider reaching out to a laboratory, chemist, or metallurgist for expert advice.
Novid Flat Bottom and Cone Bottom liquid storage tanks are specifically designed for storing standard fertilizers, such as 28-0-0. While other products may also be compatible, it remains the end user’s responsibility to verify that any material stored is suitable for the tank’s construction, specifically 304L SS or 316 SS stainless steel. Proper due diligence and consultation with experts can help prevent damage to the tank and ensure safe storage.
Known incompatible products include, but are not limited to:
- Chlorides (e.g., sodium chloride, calcium chloride)
- Products with Chloride content
- Strong acids (e.g., hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid)
- Fertilizers with high chloride content

*These estimates are calculated based on flat bottom tanks sizes including a roof dome fill allowance. Cone bottom tank capacities will vary due to cone and tank style. Please speak to a sales rep for actual figures.
*ROI and savings figures are estimates based on your inputs and are not guaranteed. Actual tank pricing may vary based on dealer fees, freight, and optional add-ons.

Common liquid fertilizer weights & specific gravity.
Novid stainless steel tanks are engineered to withstand the hydrostatic pressure of high-density fluids. While plastic or fiberglass tanks often struggle with heavier grades like Poly (10-34-0) or Potash (0-0-30), our stainless flat bottom and cone bottom tanks are built to handle the weight.
Use the table below to find the specific gravity of your product.
